The US Open Qualifying Round

So I'll start by saying this...I have never, EVER seen a live tennis match. Not one in my entire life. So I had absolutely no idea what to expect in the way of family entertainment. BUT, both of my children have been taking tennis lessons and we had been watching Wimbledon together so I thought I would look into the US Open at the Billy Jean King tennis complex in Queens. Some friends of ours advised us to go during the qualifying rounds as opposed to the actual tournament. The lower seeded players are competing in matches for the right to participate in the main event the next week. So while you won't be seeing Roger Federer vs. Rafael Nadad, you will be able to check out some incredible players up close and personal without the crowds. The complex itself is amazing. There is a well maintained food court with lots of excellent choices to eat. All of the courts are easily accessible and you can basically walk into any match at any time and watch some elite level tennis. We moved from match to match and took breaks as we saw fit. Both of my kids had a wonderful time and this will now be an annual event for the clan. Highly recommended!
